Attention ASB Users!

Over the past month, while your new moderating staff has been undergoing training; numerous events have occurred and you, the ASB community, have helped us staff to attend to site problems by marking topics and posts for moderation. Some of you have even contacted members of the staff personally, via PM or AIM, in order to expedite the process and help keep the forum cleaner. We greatly appreciate it, but the staff has recently come up with a good plan to help make moderation easier for both ourselves and for all of you. Please read the following steps to make your ASB experience much simpler and more helpful!

If you are a guest and are having registration problems...
Please contact an admin to get your account running.
You can email the following admins:

Steps for bringing an issue to the attention of the ASB staff members:

1. Mark the message for moderation by clicking on the "Report to Moderator" button in the lower right half of the post. Enter a reason in the field so that we can easily identify a problem while reading the email we will immediately receive. Remember, don't try to solve the problem yourself via "flaming" or "trolling"; you might make matters worse. Let the staff handle the situation. It's not only the correct thing to do, but it also shows maturity and responsibility.

2. Wait a little while; we sometimes may take a few minutes in order to solve the problem. If the problem is minor, continue reading. If the problem is major or is becoming serious, skip to step four.

3. If you wait a good half hour or more, and the problem still isn't solved, try PMing a Forum Moderator for the forum which you are viewing.  This way, if they are on ASB but have not yet checked their email, they can still be notified of the issue. We don't check our inboxes that much!

4. If the issue has not been solved after a long period of time, such as half a day, or if the issue is becoming serious or threatening, contact a Forum Moderator or Global Moderator via AIM, Yahoo! Messenger, or Windows Live Messenger. Many moderators, such as myself, are on our messengers quite often. If you can't find contact information for a particular staff member, please attempt to contact another. They will most likely be able to handle your problem, as all staff members are trained in handling forum and member issues.

5. If a major forum problem, such as a "raid", a large "spamming" of the boards, or suspected tampering with forum software is suspected, it is best to contact both Moderators and Administrators as soon as possible. While small "flame wars" and rule violations aren't always immediate threats, an attack on our forums of any kind must be stopped immediately. Do not be afraid to contact ANY staff member in this situation; we will be very thankful that you turned to us and provided an early warning.

Below is a list of staff members and the order in which you should contact them. The listings go by group, so feel free to contact any member of a specific group for help. The positions of Forum Moderators are listed on the forum index, so if possible, contact the specific forum moderator first.

Forum Moderators
Forum Moderators have basic powers on all boards and specialized powers in the boards they control. If a problem is limited to one subforum, try contacting the Forum Moderator of that area first. If you need to contact a Forum Moderator, check the front page board index to see which moderators control which boards. Picking a specific moderator can help solve a problem more quickly.

Global Moderators
Global Moderators have specialized powers on all forums, unlike Forum Moderators who hold power only within specific boards. A Global Moderator can help you to fix problems that are widespread among many boards on their own, while Forum Moderators may need to jointly cooperate to solve a problem.

Administrators

Administrators run the site and have full control over every technical aspect. While their powers are great, they are also quite busy doing the dirty work of the forum. They give their own time to run the forum, and are very busy, so it's best to save contacting one unless the situation is grave. However, don't be afraid to ask one an occasional question; they're people like the rest of us, and enjoy being normal members like the rest of us.

Remember, the ASB staff are not books of infinite airsoft knowledge. They don't know the answer to every question you have about the sport; they're very busy doing their job and don't spend ALL their time reading up on gearboxes and whatnot. However, they often do know quite a lot from reading the forums so much, so you can most often trust their responses. Your staff appreciates your cooperation, and will pay you back with good, quick service and as much knowledge as they can give you. Thanks for reading this and hopefully following our instructions! Doing so will make our jobs a lot easier, and will help us to solve problems more quickly at your convenience!
