Hello all-

As some of you may know, the B/S/T section of the forums was brought back online on May 30, 2011. This was due to several reasons, the first being the steady decline of traffic here other than a core group of members, and the second because the majority of the feedback I received in the half a dozen or so threads I created suggested that I bring back the old format. I'd like to think that it was more than a vocal minority of users who liked the old system (or didn't care either way). That being said, I've created this thread in order to get suggestions regarding what changes you would like made to the current forum B/S/T system (which was basically the old system, but I got rid of a couple of sections such as "completed sales" and "locked sales.").

Currently, there are a couple of key issues that people have brought up. First, whether or not to allow "bump" posts, and if so, what kind. Right now, posts made in the B/S/T section do not count to your overall post count and there is a very low minimum post requirement to post there to keep the spam bots out. My personal opinion is that bump posts can be brought back only if the topic you are bumping is either on the second page, or 72 hours have passed. I've been on several forums where this is the norm and they have plenty of BST traffic.

The second issue is that of what I call "garage sales," which are topics which contain all manner of items inside. I am for them only if they occupy their own subforum and that the types of items listed in posted in the topic description. This way buyers can more easily find what they are looking for.

Take a look at the section and post your thoughts here. If you feel that there should be another section, please make that known as well. Also, feel free to start using it while we work out these kinks.

You can find the B/S/T section here.
You can find the rules governing it pinned there along with a thread for leaving feedback for other users. There's also a model that you can copy if you like the format of the classifieds B/S/T, but don't like using it.

Thanks

Is it ok to use the classifield style as well as the forum-driven mode? Or is the forum mode only allowed now?
